1. Hebrews 6 — How a Mature Christian Acts

   1. Grow up in Christ — verses 1–3

   • Christianity isn't meant to stay at the level of foundational truths. Grow up.

   • The foundation is turning away from self-help/self-righteousness and turning toward God.

   • God sent Jesus because we could never make ourselves righteous. Our righteousness comes from Him.

   • Religion can become obsessed with who is right. Hebrews redirects our attention: stop looking at everyone else and look to God.

   • Maturity means becoming less focused on proving ourselves and more focused on trusting Him.

   2. Look at the fruit in your own life — verses 4–8

   • This passage is often used to argue that someone can lose their salvation.

   • But Scripture is first meant to be applied to ourselves, not used to judge other people.

   • The picture is of ground receiving rain and revealing what it produces: fruit or thistles.

   • The question isn't, “What is everyone else producing?” It's:
     “What is my life producing?”

   • If I've experienced the goodness of God, how am I responding to Him?

   • Only God truly knows what is happening inside a person.

   • We can be impressed by people who look good on the outside while God sees the heart.

   • I would rather be concerned with what God sees in me than what people think they see in me.

   • When I judge people, I miss God.

   3. Play the long game — verse 12

   “Stay the course with committed faith…”

   • Another major theme in Hebrews: don't just start well—finish well.

   • Spiritual maturity isn't simply about having a great beginning.

   • It's about perseverance.

   • The question is:
     Can I stay the course?

   • Don't drag your feet. Keep moving forward, even when progress feels slow.

   • The finish matters just as much as the start.

   4. Believe God before you see the promise — verses 13–18

   • Abraham trusted God's promise and stuck it out.

   • A mature Christian is a believing believer—someone who acts on God's promises before seeing the outcome.

   • Feelings aren't the ultimate measure of faith.

   • I can feel confident when everything is going well, but what happens when things fall apart?

   • Faith is revealed by what I do when I can't see what God is doing.

   • Sometimes the only thing you can do is keep on keeping on.

   The Big Idea

   A mature Christian doesn't constantly look at other people to determine who's right with God. They look to God, examine their own fruit, trust His promises, and keep walking.

   You may not always see the light.

   You may not always understand what God is doing.

   You may not always feel strong.

   But keep putting one foot in front of the other.

   Faithfulness in every season produces something in us. Sometimes the fruit is visible immediately. Sometimes God is working underground.

   Maturity isn't just how you start. It's whether you keep trusting Him all the way to the finish.
